Personally, I prefer the looks of the older Lightning, but it’s hard to argue with the condition of this oil-in-frame BSA Lightning A65.
Despite my aesthetic preference, some people suggest that the OIF design improved handling because the frame had to be stiffened up. Granted, plenty of people also disagree with that notion. The bike was capable of the ton (105 mph to be exact) thanks to the 50 horsepower parallel-twin engine. In addition to the revised frame, the ‘newer’ A65 gained Ceriani style front forks and conical hubs.
This specific BSA Lightning A65 (VIN: AE03190A65L) has just 1,723 miles. Despite the low mileage, it has been restored, though the seller is unclear on what the restoration included. The seller is unable to ride the bike due to a knee injury, so now it’s your chance to find one in great shape.
