1965 Bultaco Metralla Mk2 Kit America

In Spain by AbhiLeave a Comment

Post Sale Update: This Bultaco sold for $7,500 after just 1 bid on eBay.

Spanish for ‘shrapnel’, the Metralla was one of the most famous motorcycles to come out of Spain. The regular Mk2 model is rare enough, but Bultaco also offered a “Kit America” – a race package with a different tank, tail, handlebars, and a tweaked engine that made it nearly peerless on the race track. This Kit America looks beautiful but it has sat for a couple of years and will need someone’s TLC to get back on the road and be ridden in anger. Other changes included a close ratio transmission – for more on the differences that made up the Kit America, check out Progress is Fine.

This specific bike (VIN: M23026830) is numbers matching and it was acquired by the seller from the Bultaco Motorcycle Museum in New York. He/She then vintage raced it occasionally at the Laconia Nationals, Mosport in Canada, and the vintage nationals at Mid Ohio. In addition, the bike’s been upgraded with some modern touches like a Mikuni carb and Scitsu tach.
