Ed ‘Big Daddy’ Roth is a legend in the hot rod and rock-art community, thanks to his creations like Rat Fink. While his focus was on building cars, he did have a phase where he focused on trikes. The “American Beetle” was one of those creations, with a 36 horsepower engine from a VW Beetle and the front fork from a Honda motorcycle. As you can imagine, the front/rear weight bias was quite extreme – Big Daddy took care of that by filling the front forks with five pounds of lead. This specific example has just been pulled out of storage after 20 years, and currently runs and drives. It also features the signature of Roth himself under the license plate. Find this Big Daddy Trike for sale here on Hemmings in Scarsdale, New York for $23,000.
