Post Sale Update: After 25 bids on eBay, this Penton sold for $5,400.
In 1968, John Penton and KTM started their fruitful relationship when they built some prototypes that eventually became the Penton Berkshire, powered by Sachs 100cc engines. In ’73, the Penton Hare Scrambler was introduced with a new 250cc KTM engine, and the rest was history.
The new 250cc engine was surrounded by a chromoly frame and paired with a six speed transmission, Akront wheels, Motoplat ignition, and 35mm Ceriani forks. The enduro version had a MSRP of $1,575 and weighed 220 pounds. The bike was originally yellow when it was introduced (like this previously featured example), but eventually got the red paint scheme you see in front of you today.
