It’s always nice to break up posts of expensive exotica with cheap bikes that run or could be restored. In that spirit, here’s a straightforward Kawi KZ400.

The KZ was a reliable commuter bike with an engine that produced 36 horsepower. It was introduced in 1974 and was the first 4-stroke bike after Kawasaki’s legendary Z1. For more on this model, check out KZ400.com.

This example (VIN: K4S25411) is claimed to be in ‘very nice, near original’ condition. It has just over 27,000 miles on it and the carbs were just cleaned and rebuilt. There’s a lot of wear, including tank dents, rusted spokes, and aftermarket pinstripes. The seller says it handles well and that it would be a great city bike or a platform for a restoration.
