Only a few of my readers are going to care about this bike, but the ones that do are going to be ecstatic (and might even snatch it up for themselves). The Yamaha XT550 was an orphan of sorts that’s turned into a cult classic for dual-sport enthusiasts. The first of the redesigned 4-valve motor, it was only imported for two years before being replaced with the much better known XT600. It had a quirky dual carb setup that no one seems to like, but it was a wheelie machine, and an economical, reliable bike. Cycle Magazine tested one and got the following numbers: 34 horsepower, 27.8 pound-feet of torque, 14.1 second quarter mile at 90 miles per hour, and it weighed 322 pounds wet. Find this XT550 for sale in Jersey City, New Jersey with bidding up to $1,475 and the reserve met here on eBay.
