Post Listing Update: After 24 bids on eBay, bidding did not meet reserve at $21,500. After having ‘tested the market’, the seller then relisted the bike several times with an asking price of $22,500 and got no interest. The last relisting was another auction that got up to $18,277 before the listing was ended because ‘the bike is no longer available.’

The Honda RVF750, also known as the RC45, was a legendary homologation bike and successor to the popular RC30. Though it was sold between ’94 and ’99, the US only got the ’94 model. Here’s the catch – this bike was salvaged in 2007 after being rear-ended. The seller says there was barely any damage but the insurance company over-reacted due to the rarity of the bike. If you’re lucky, here’s your chance to get a rare superbike for less than usual.

Honda RC45 - Front

The RC45 overcame some initial teething problems to have plenty of success in the racing world: 1997 Superbike World Championship, 1995 and 1998 US AMA Superbike Championships, the 1996 Daytona 200, and plenty more. One of the rarest motorcycles ever built, just 700 were created world wide (200 the first year for homologation purposes, 500 afterwards for Japanese customers) and it’s estimated that only about 20 remain in the states. Some consider this bike to the best Superbike ever built, thanks in part to the fact that it made over 190 horsepower in race trim (the US spec was 101, European was 118). Honda RC45 - Front Left

Due to the rear-ending, this specific Honda RVF750 (VIN: RC45-1000198) suffered a bent exhaust, broken right footpeg, and brake levers, plus scratches on the right side of the bike. New replacement parts included the rear wheel, right front turn signals, right mirror, right lower fairing…etc. Plus, the seller installed a Termignoni shotgun exhaust – I’d love to hear what that sounds like. Currently, the bike has about 9,000 miles and has a few paint chips from the road. That just means you won’t mind adding a rock chip or two by getting it on the road!
