The Buell S1 Lightning was the sportbike in Erik’s 90’s model offerings. Produced between ’96 and ’98, just 5,000 examples were sold before Buell evolved it into the X1 Lightning.
The S1 took a Harley Sportster 1200cc engine and put out 91 horsepower with it. The bike weighed 440 pounds, meaning this had a bump of 15 horsepower and a 25 pound reduction from the S2 Thunderbolt. Complaints about the bike were mostly focused on the silly-looking airbox and the horrible OEM seat.
This specific Buell S1 Lightning is being offered by the original owner who has put just 7,000 miles on it. It’s very original with only a few changes including the addition of a Vance & Hines exhaust and a jet kit with some dyno tuning back in 1996. It also comes with a Corbin seat.
