I love naked bikes and when I was in Paris I couldn’t help but notice quite a few examples of the Honda CB1000R, a bike I almost never see in the US. What’s hard for me to understand is why it sold so poorly here in the US.
The CB1000R makes plenty of power (105 horsepower), it’s much more comfortable than say, a CBR1000RR, and it’s not ugly (I realize that’s subjective). Naked bike ergos are so nice with the wide handlebar, making slow speed cornering a breeze. Plus, the lack of a windshield means you get a polite reminder from the wind when you’re cranking above the speed limit (not that you’d ever do that). For more information, check out this comparison from Motorcyclist Online between the CB1000R and Kawi’s entrant into the market, the Z1000.
This specific Honda CB1000R (VIN: zdcsc6019bf200265) has under 6,000 miles and is lightly modified with just an aftermarket light and the removal of the mirrors and muffler. It is apparently 1 of just 86 that were imported to the US in 2011.
