Post Sale Update: This SRX sold for $4,350 after 23 bids on eBay.
In the US, Yamaha sold the SRX600 for just one year. It sold poorly in 1986 because US riders preferred power, power, and more power. But for riders who can appreciate the styling, handling, and the nostalgia of having to kick over the 595cc single motor, the SRX has become a cult classic.
Basic stats include 41 horsepower, a top speed of 106 miles per hour, and a wet weight of 387 pounds. For more on the SRX, check out this retrospective on Sport Rider (RIP) in which Dean Adams calls the bike misunderstood and says “by almost all definitions, the SRX is a fantastic all-around motorcycle.”
This example (VIN: JYA2EG009GA000209) has 3,362 miles and it’s said to be in excellent shape. The seller’s knee replacement has failed and he’s now unable to ride. Everything is said to work as designed and the bike got a recent service that included a brake fluid flush, oil change, and a tune up by P&M Motorcycles. Bonus points go to the seller because he’s including a 1:12 Tamiya plastic model.
