One of the requests I got from the Reader Survey was to update y’all with the results of featured bike listings. I thought that was a good idea – hopefully you’ve seen in the past that I sometimes update a post with the final sale price, if I’m able to find it. But that requires you to go back in the past. So I’m going to try something new at the end of each month where I look back at what I thought were the most interesting features, and then let you know what the final sale prices were. Let’s take a look at January 2016.
Obviously, this will only include listings from eBay (or other auction sites). I unfortunately have no way of finding out final sale prices of bikes offered on Craigslist/Cycle Trader/Kijiji/etc. With that said, here are some highlights from last month:
“Land Speed Moped” – after being relisted, this Tomos sold for a hefty $10,420.69.
1960 Cezeta 501 – did not meet reserve, bidding stopped at $4,500.
1983 Yamaha Virago XV750 Custom – thanks to the fact that it was offered at no reserve, this bike got a lot of bids (63 of them, to be precise). It sold for $5,100.
1970 Velocette LE Police – sold for $4,026 after 22 bids on eBay.
1972 Bultaco Metralla 250 Road Racer – sold for $4,545 after 25 bids.
1984 Moto Guzzi Le Mans Mark 3 – sold for $6,500 after 22 bids.
1928 Bohmerland Touren 600 – did not meet reserve, with just one bid at the opening amount of $100,000.
1978 Ducati 900SS with NCR Engine – sold for $21,600.
1955 BMW R25/3 – sold for $10,701.
1965 Honda CB450 Black Bomber – sold for $4,550.
