In 1999, Suzuki’s WSBK racers were sponsored by Corona and Alstare – and they featured a very distinctive yellow and purple paint scheme. The year after, Suzuki decided to pay tribute to the paint scheme on their 600cc sportbikes (but only in Europe and Canada). I haven’t been able to find definitive information on exact production numbers, but the changes were solely cosmetic.
By 2000, the GSX-R 600 wasn’t very competitive (especially thanks to the recent release of Yamaha’s legendary R6). A cynical person might think that this livery was just an easy way to shift units before the new model debuted in 2001. This example (VIN: js1gn78a8y2104896) has 18,000 miles and is said to be in good shape. It comes with both the dual seat and the solo seat with cowl.
