Post Sale Update: This Seca sold for the BIN of $4,850.
Offered in the US for just one year, the XJ900RK Seca is a rare bike to find nowadays, especially in excellent original shape like this.
You might be asking, why was the bike only produced for one year? Two reasons: First, in ’84, Yamaha released the FJ1100, which was much better suited for the needs of the American market – faster and sportier. Second, European riders felt the handlebar-mounted fairing created instability at high speeds, so the next year Yamaha moved the fairing mount to the frame and then bumped up displacement, to boot. Then they decided to only continue offering it in Europe. For more on this rare bike, check out this retrospective from Rider Magazine.
This specific XJ900 has just 9,600 miles and is claimed to be in fantastic shape overall. It’s just had a service, including a carb cleaning and new tires, and it comes with the owners manual and tool kit. Find it for sale in Thousand Oaks, California with a BIN of $4,850 or best offer
