The dual-sport cousin of the Black Bomber, Honda’s CL450 was the best selling of the scramblers of the day. Because of this, you can find one with relative ease even though they haven’t been made in 40+ years. With that said, this one stands out from the rest as it’s impressively being offered by the original owner.
Basic specs included 45 horsepower from the same 444cc parallel twin found in the CB450. Dry weight was 401 pounds and with enough time you could hit 105 miles per hour. For more on the CL450, check out this story on Hemmings.
This example (VIN: CL450-4109588) has 30,650 miles. It spent 20 years in storage but the seller says everything works and that it started on the second kick after its Rip Van Winkle-esque nap. To make sure everything was fine after storage, the seller rebuilt the petcock and installed new tires/chain/fork gaiters/fork oil. He also adjusted the valves, carbs, and timing chain. The sale includes the owners manual, shop manual, tool kit, maintenance records, receipt of purchase, and original touchup paint.
