The idea of touring on a supermoto bike doesn’t make much sense to me, but KTM somehow made it work with their SMT model – a motorcycle that Visordown called “the most sensible KTM in ages.” Here’s a pretty example of an uncommon bike that gets bonus points in my book because the seller has created an excellent example of how to list a bike for sale online.
If you wanted to be simplistic, you could argue that KTM created the SMT just by taking their big supermoto bike and throwing on luggage and a larger windshield. Maybe you’d be right. But the riding position combined with 115 horsepower, 71 pound-feet of torque, and a 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds means you’ve got yourself a fun urban assault vehicle that you won’t see other people on.
This example has 15,012 miles, approximately a third of which were put on by the current seller after he acquired it in October of last year. He “impulse bought” a Yamaha FJ-09, so this KTM has to go. There are a lot of extras on this SMT, including a Cox Radiator Guard, R&G frame and front axle sliders, KTM tail bag/side panniers/touring windscreen, Oxford heated grips, ITG airbox, the front velocity stack from a KTM RC8, and a whole lot more.
For several lovely photos, check out this Flickr album from the seller, or just go find this SMT for sale in Livermore, California for $9,750 here on Bay Area Riders Forum. If only everyone put this much effort into listing their bikes!
