Rare in the US – 1991 Aprilia Tuareg 600 Wind

In Dual-Sport, Italy by Abhi3 Comments

Post Sale Update: This Wind sold for the opening bid of $3,800.

If you ask the average American about an Aprilia dual-sport, they’d either struggle to come up with anything (or they’d impress you by remembering the Caponord, though even Aprilia themselves only shows photos of the bike on pavement on that site). But years ago, they offered other countries the Tuareg, an enduro that you could use to take on your buddy with an Africa Twin.

The Tuareg was actually offered in displacements varying from 50cc to 600cc – the 125cc was probably the most successful, commercially. This example is the big boy with the 562cc Rotax engine. Due to the extra weight it was the most road-oriented of the model line, but the bigger engine put out 46 horsepower, good enough for a 100 mile per hour top speed on most surfaces. For more information on the Tuareg line, check out this link from MotoBlog (warning – it’s an imperfect translation from Italian).
