Post Listing Update: This Titan did not meet reserve despite 20 bids up to $6,200.
Riders often like to reminisce about how much fun it could be to hit the violent powerband of a two stroke motor, but there were a few companies who thought that smokers were also ideal platforms for relaxed every day riding as well. Suzuki’s best example of that may have been the T500 Titan, which has stood the test of time (though it was always in the shadow of Honda’s Black Bomber). This example has been given a “nut and bolt” restoration from someone who has restored several over the years and apparently just can’t help himself whenever he sees one worth saving.
This was the biggest of Suzuki’s T-series bikes, with a 492cc engine that produced 47 horsepower, capable of getting the T500 up to 105 miles per hour. Want to learn more? Check out this helpful writeup from Motorcycle Classics about why the Titan was so underrated.
This example (VIN: T500-47013) will come with photographs showing the restoration process as well as receipts for parts and work. Highlights of the work including powdercoating of the frame, swingarm, kickstand, and battery box, rechroming of the handlebars, headlight bucket, fork ears, headers, mufflers, chain guard, and more. The engine was vapor blasted and rebuilt to the 1st overbore, the carbs were cleaned, all of the cables are new, and the bodywork has been repainted. Re-used parts include the seat, fenders, tool kit, and taillight. The seller notes that he has invested hours of his time and over $6,600 in cash, but there are a couple of issues: there’s a small “ripple” on the left side of the front fender and there’s two extra holes in the rear fender that have been plugged. The previous owner had lowered the rear end because he was short – that’s what the fender wholes are from. With all that said, the motor has not been started yet, so you’ll have to break this in and put some miles on the NOS speedo.
