As you’ve seen in the past, Vy and I try to take a multi-week motorcycle trip each summer – previous examples include the UK, Alaska, the Western US, and Costa Rica. This time around, we’re going to the Iberian Peninsula! Got any suggestions for us?
Right now the plan is to fly into Barcelona and then do a lap of the peninsula. Sadly, we’ll be missing MotoGP in Barcelona by just a few days – I’ll just have to get my fill in Austin. Vy and I are just starting our research – anything in Spain and Portugal is fair game. Can you help us by recommending your favorite sights, restaurants, and people? If you’re going to be in the area, let me know – we’d love to meet up!
My original hope was to secure a BMW G310GS because I haven’t ridden one yet and I thought it would be interesting to do a 2-up tour on a little bike. Unfortunately, when it comes to hard luggage for the little GS, BMW only offers a top case, and that won’t carry enough for 2 people over 2 weeks. If I was riding alone, I’d have no problem slapping on a set of soft bags, but they will interfere with Vy’s comfort on the back and they can be less secure if we park the bike for a few hours so I passed on the 310. I’m still figuring out what we’re going to ride – but that’s not going to matter if we don’t know what to see…
So, wonderful readers – I know many of you have great recommendations. What should we do in our limited time there? Thanks in advance for any help, and I hope to see some of you out there!
Best,
Abhi
