Tiny Racer – 1989 Yamaha YSR50

In Japan, Small Displacement by AbhiLeave a Comment

The Yamaha YSR50 was the most common of the rare 50cc sportbikes that came from Japan in the late 80s and early 90s. An instant classic, the YSR50 was always street legal, but is now primarily used in spec racing. This is one of the nicer examples I’ve seen – most are usually scratched up or rocking replacement body panels.

Yamaha YSR50 - Front

The 49.3cc two-stroke engine was capable of pushing the bike up to 38 miles per hour, but companies like Team Calamari have been making stock performance numbers useless with years of aftermarket parts and performance modifications.

Yamaha YSR50 - Rear

This specific Yamaha YSR50 (VIN: JYA2RRA09KA022024) is claimed to be stock and in collector’s quality. Flaws are limited to scratches on the right mirror, right grip, and right side plastic decal. It has 3,904 miles, which is way more than I would have expected by looking at it.
