Also known as the GSX1300R, the Hayabusa was an instant legend when it was introduced in 1999 thanks to a top speed between 188-194 miles per hour. That made it the fastest production motorcycle in the world, and thanks to a gentleman’s agreement among manufacturers to keep top speeds under 186mph in 2000, it held that title until 2007 when the MV Agusta F4 R 312 took over. The Hayabusa provided incredible speed for the money, which is why a large number of these bikes have been modded with turbos, extended swingarms, wider rear tires, and other changes. That’s what makes this stock, 0 mile example so special.
One last note about the Hayabusa worth sharing – how it was named. When Suzuki developed this bike, the current top speed champion was the Honda Super Blackbird (CBR1100XX). Well, a predator of the blackbird is the peregrine falcon, and as you can probably guess, that’s what Hayabusa translates to. Though the Hayabusa was limited after 2000, the bike remained the same until 2008 when the second (and current) generation was introduced.
As a ’06, this example is from the last year when Suzuki offered multicolored paint jobs and the long stainless mufflers. With 0 miles, the bike has been in storage since new, a process which apparently included removal of the battery and gasoline and having the motor fogged. The seller says he/she has photos of the process. Find this Hayabusa for sale in Chester County, Pennsylvania for $12,000 here on Craigslist.
