Post Listing Update: This Special Edition was pulled off of eBay, final sale price unknown.

Current values of Ducati’s SportClassic line show that they have become quite collectible – and the most collectible of them all is the limited production “Special Edition.” Just 100 were built, and they were all for North America. 90 were sold in the US, and the remaining 10 where shipped to Canada. The biggest change was the special black and gold paint scheme meant to evoke nostalgic feelings for Ducati’s iconic ’78 900SD Darmah.

The Special Edition is one of the rarest modern Ducatis, and they were sold as Monopostos with an identification plaque on the triple trees. Other modifications to make this bike unique included spoked wire wheels, twin muffler shotgun exhaust, and one Ohlins shock (as opposed to the dual shocks of the other SportClassics) to make room for said exhaust.

This example (VIN: ZDM1WABP97B002318) is number 81 out of 100. It’s on offer by the original owner, who bought the bike from Fast by Ferracci. He bought it to collect, which is why the odometer shows just 1,100 miles. Flaws are limited to some surface rust on the right side oil return line and pitting in some chrome pieces. The seller specifies that everything on the bike is original, except for the tank pad. Impressively, even the battery is the original unit as it’s been maintained with a tender. The bike hasn’t been registered since early 2015 and the seller has occasionally started the bike since.
