Though BMW sold a similar bike called the R100R for a few years afterwards, the BMW R100 Classic is quite an oddball. Information is very scarce on this bike, as it seems just 180 were sold in the US and Japan in 1990/1991.

BMW R100 Classic - Right Side

This bike was so rare that BMW apparently handed out the manual for a R100RT with new models. The engine was the 980cc boxer twin good for 60 horsepower and 58 pound-feet of torque. Marketed as the “Classic”, it featured the quintessential BMW black paint with pinstripes, and was supposed to marry 70s styling with 90s technology, like the monolever suspension and composite wheels with tubeless tires standard on the RT. The very small information I was able to find on this was over at BMBikes.
