$1.4 Million – Sturgis Motorcycles #001

In America, Cruiser by Abhi9 Comments

I was just having a conversation with a reader this weekend about the most expensive bike (asking price) that I’ve ever featured on Bike-urious. While asking prices are borderline irrelevant as they don’t have to be based in reality, it’s still an amusing metric to chat about. Before today, it was the California Hot Rod – the seller wanted a cool million for that, though bidding eventually topped out at $250k. Impressive, but it’s got nothing on the asking price of this…honestly, I’m not sure what to call this, but it’s the first production bike out of Sturgis Motorcycles, and they’d like 1.4 million of your dollar bills.

Naming a motorcycle company Sturgis Motorcycles is a SEO nightmare – I gave up trying to find their site after a few minutes because any internet search engine obviously just gives you information on a whole bunch of other Sturgis/motorcycle related things. But according to this listing, Sturgis will build one “Anniversary” bike per year, and this is their first. It is apparently the first bike with a twisted stainless tube frame (which took over 1,500 man hours to create), the first bike with an oil tank built into the back fender, and the first “motorcycle of relevance as a Garth Brooks tribute”. Look at those accolades fly! The sale also includes Garth’s 8x Platinum award presented for selling eight million copies of his album, The Chase (look at the adorable tapes). If you care, the album has since been certified 9x:

So…that’s all I got. I can’t decide if this is the greatest or worst post in Bike-urious history. Either way, find this bike for sale in Sturgis, South Dakota for $1,400,000
