Bimota’s first BMW-powered motorcycle, the BB1 Supermono was also the first Bimota to be powered by a single-cylinder motor. In total, 524 were sold – 376 as a red/grey Supermono and another 148 Supermono Bipostos in dark blue…as found here. This one’s up for auction with us over at Iconic, and it’s never been ridden!
The aluminum tube frame was paired with Paioli suspension, Brembo brakes (single disc up front with the option of a second disc), a couple of carbon fiber pieces, a fuel tank under the engine, and Marchesini wheels. The motor was pulled from the BMW F650 and it was good for 48 horsepower. Options included a €10,000 race kit with magnesium wheels, upgraded suspension, fuel injection, and more. Bimota competed with the Supermono and stretched out displacement to 725cc. Combined with some other tweaks, the race motor put out 75 horsepower!
This example is VIN: ZESBB1000TR000032 and the odometer shows 1 mile. The owner acquired it new from Red Baron, the Japanese Bimota distributor. It has never had fuel in it since the purchase. It’s still equipped with the original Michelin Hi-Sport tires and the sale includes the factory seat cowl, which is currently installed.
