Over on Iconic, we’ve got one of the most impressive Ducatis ever built – the the Superleggera (Italian for “super light”) variant of the Panigale V4.
As befitting of its designation, the bike shaved 100lbs off of the Panigale V4 — no small feat considering that it was already a featherweight at 436lbs dry. To accomplish such a task, Ducati crafted the frame, the subframe, the swingarm, as well as the wheels from carbon fiber. Of course, the Superleggera incorporated plenty of other top-shelf materials, including titanium, magnesium, and aluminum. For the power plant, Ducati opted for the same 998ccc Desmosedici Stradale R as found in the V4 R. Despite offering less displacement than the V4 and V4S, the smaller, lighter engine made 224hp in its factory configuration. When set up with the race kit and exhaust, output was boosted to 234hp. In practice, this means that it boasted 0.7 horsepower-per-pound — a 40% higher power-to-weight ratio than its V4 counterparts.
Elsewhere, the Superleggera came fitted with only the most premium components available, including machined forks, a titanium-springed Öhlins TTX shock, and Brembo Stylema R calipers. Expectedly, all of this came at quite a hefty sum ($100,000) and was as exclusive as they come — just 500 examples were produced in total.
This example is VIN: ZDMDAGUW4LB000148. The seller purchased the bike new in 2020 but never took delivery and it has since been sitting on display at the dealership. It is #148/500, and per the seller, the odometer shows one mile. The seller states that “the owner has the original crate, race kit and exhaust and everything it came with when new.” These are all included in the sale.
