Surely the asking price is for attention’s sake (and it’s worked in this case), but the real headline here is that this is claimed to be the “world’s first tattooed motorcycle”. That’s right: “light colored cow hide leather – similar to the color of human skin – is engineered onto the bike. Artists from professional tattoo studios applied traditional works of tattoo art onto the bike.” The seller says it took 3,000 hours to build the motorcycle and sidecar, then another 2,500 hours to tattoo them both up.
This bike (VIN: 1HD1JL5169Y035224) started as a Harley-Davidson Heritage, but the only things that remain are the 96 cubic inch motor and a portion of the frame. Everything else was built by the Polish company Game Over Cycles. It debuted in 2014 at the London International Tattoo Convention 2014 – the sidecar premiered 3 years later at Sturgis in 2017.
Per the seller, the “The Recidivist has received 11 international awards” including 1st place at the Rat’s Hole Custom Bike Show as well as the Harley-Davidson Museum Custom Bike Show, and a “Special Award” at Harley-Davidson’s 115th Anniversary celebration in Prague in 2018.
