I love the look of endurance racers and I love Walt Siegl’s work, so you can probably guess how I felt when Walt debuted the Bol d’Or back in 2014. Just like with his Leggero series, just 10 were built. Here’s numero uno, and it’s available in Canada.
Unlike the Leggero, this build keeps the OEM frame. The changes here are primarily focused on the bodywork (which weighs just 8.5 pounds), saving weight with components like magnesium wheels, and some tweaks to the air intake and ECU. Per Walt in a BikeEXIF story, “In my experience, saving weight wherever you can, rather than tearing into an engine to get more horsepower, will always result in a better performing motorcycle.” The Bol d’Or weighs just 340 pounds, over 80 pounds lighter than the donor F3!
