The Ducati 999S Team USA was a very limited edition of the Italian firm’s superbike of the time. Built to commemorate Ducati’s participation in the AMA, this bike was unfortunately nothing more than a cosmetic package built surprisingly around the S, and not the 999R model.
What’s the difference, you ask? In the world of Ducati’s, the “R” designation represents the top of the line. In previous years, Ducati race replicas were usually based on the R – like the Xerox, Bayliss, or Fila replicas. Even though the actual Parts Unlimited bike had factory support and utilized R engines, this replica was mechanically identical to the S, and instead got custom graphics and a signature on the tail. Our nitpicking aside, the S model still gets you some wonderful factory equipment, like Ohlins front and rear, more horsepower, radial brakes, and the $3,000 Termi exhaust.
This specific Ducati 999S Team USA has 6,267 miles and it comes with plenty of extras: Power Commander III, Sargent seat, LED tail light, Shorai battery, Oberon clutch slave cylinder, Ducati Performance clutch pressure plate, Fast by Ferraci clutch cover, adjustable levers, several carbon fiber pieces, Cycle Cat riser clipons, CRG Lane Splitter mirrors, and a Leo Vince exhaust. For a limited edition Ducati, this has a lot of modifications. I think the asking price reflects the dip in originality, as this is one of the cheaper ones I’ve seen in a while.
