In 2001, the reborn Indian (at the time based in Gilroy, California, they went out of business again and of course were brought back to life yet again by Polaris) celebrated its 100 year anniversary by releasing 2,001 “Centennial” examples of the Chief (MSRP: $25,995) and the Scout (MSRP: $19,995). Here’s one of the former that’s probably priced a little too close to the original MSRP.
For a little more information on the Centennial Chief, check out this article from the New York Times. This example (VIN: 5cdc3b5121g000035) is #35 of 2,001 and it features a 88ci (1,440cc) V-Twin built by S&S Cycle. The Centennial models got special badging and paint, plus this example has custom saddlebags. It has 10,000 miles and the seller confusingly says it’s a one owner bike that’s a daily rider but it’s stored at a dealership. Upgrades include a wider rear tire, Mikuni carb, Baker 6 speed transmission, Corbin seat, and custom wheels.
