Let’s follow up that Video Intermission of MV Agusta nowadays with the best that they had to offer a decade ago. A limited edition of the MV Agusta F4, the R 312 was named after its immense top speed – 312 km/h, or 194 miles per hour. This was due to a 9 horsepower bump in output up to 183 (plus 85 pound feet of torque). In reality, the bike hit 193.24 mph, which made it the fastest production motorcycle in the world when it was released. 300 examples were built worldwide, 150 of which made it to the US (for AMA homologation). It only lasted for one year with the original body style of the 1,000 before MV would move to the 1,078 in 2009.
Per the seller, of the 150 that made it to the US, just 50 were Red/Silver. MSRP was a substantial $24,995 (but the seller notes that he paid $23,200). For more information, check out this review from Cycle World. When it comes to the original 998cc F4, this was as good as it got.
This example has been well upgraded with a MV Race ECU, Bodis exhaust, Muzzy metal fan blades, MV high flow water pump, Arrow headers, and a few small cosmetic pieces. It’s been recently serviced with an oil change, new fork oil/seals, and a coolant flush. Find this MV for sale in Nolensville, Tennessee here on ADVRider (registration required) for $10,700.
