Target Design was formed back in 1979 after 3 ex-BMW stylists (including the legendary Hans Muth) decided to split off and try things on their own. They almost immediately made a name for themselves by winning a competition from German magazine Motorrad about what motorcycles would look like in the future. Their winning design (called the ED-1, ED stood for European Design) was based on a MV Agusta:
If the design looks vaguely familiar to you, it might be because Suzuki liked what they saw and they brought on Target Design to evolve their idea for production – it became the incredible Suzuki Katana:
Fast forward to 2008, when a German classic bike dealer decided to turn the ED1 prototype into a production model. Last October they revealed a prototype at the Padova Auto D’Epoca, and here’s your chance to get 1 of the 5 that will be built, assuming you have a ton of money (and that you even like the way it looks). If you had the money, would you snap this up? Or is it just too crazy looking for you?
