In 1985, BMW updated the R65 with the frame/suspension from the R80 – the most obvious resulting change was the to switch to a single shock in the rear. Here’s an impressively-preserved example that’ shad just one owner.
Wet weight was 455 pounds, and the 648cc boxer twin was complemented by a five speed transmission via a single plate dry clutch. Twin 32mm Bing carbs handled fueling and final drive was taken care of with a shaft.
This example (VIN: WB1046204G6128220) has 9,606 miles and the seller calls it a time capsule as the paint and OEM luggage still look to be in excellent condition. The one upgrade appears to be a Corbin seat, though the original is included. Also helping you go back to the 80s are a couple of period-correct helmets:
