With an engine derived from the GSXR 1100, the Suzuki RF900R was designed as a entry-level bike in the sport-touring market, undercutting the competition by about $1,500. Despite the pricing, you still got a solid sport-tourer with some of the weirdest fairing designs I’ve ever seen. I’m not alone in that regard – many people didn’t like the looks that Suzuki claimed were ‘inspired by a stingray’, so sales weren’t great.
The 937cc engine was very reliable and put down 125 horsepower. For more on the RF900R, check out this review from Motorcycle News.
This specific Suzuki RF900R is being offered by the original owner who has put just 8,800 miles on it. In 2001 it was repainted in a very interesting chameleon paint scheme that changes based on how the sun hits it. The seller claims that the only issue with the bike is that the paint is starting to bubble on a small section of the right side of the fuel tank. Otherwise it ‘runs like new’.
