1,000 KM in Costa Rica With Elephant Moto

2019 marked something new for Vy and I – the first time that we went on a motorcycle trip that was primarily organized by someone else!

When Vy and I go on bike trips, we typically want to explore a country we haven’t been to before and we handle all the logistics ourselves. But I’ve been hearing several requests from y’all to try out rental agencies and share how the experience went, so for this trip I looked into Elephant Moto Costa Rica.

This trip marked a return to Costa Rica for us, and the reason was simple: Mr. Chris White. I met Chris at a RawHyde Adventures training class – we didn’t spend enough time with each other but I found out he had recently started Elephant Moto Costa Rica and we stayed in touch via email. Born and raised in Newfoundland, Canada, Chris ended up settling in Costa Rica and got hooked on adventure riding after a tour of Morocco on a BMW GS. He suggested that Vy and I come out to see what he’s up to a few times, and the possibility of seeing sloths again seemed to be enough to convince Vy to return.

Vy took this photo during our last Costa Rica trip, and I think it’s her favorite thing in life.

The most important thing to me is that Chris is simply a nice guy that knows his stuff. Normally when Vy and I travel, we stress out about planning our destinations and route. But Chris is the local expert, so we’ve been able to relax while he suggested his highlights and arranged bookings. Vy and I did this on a tight budget, so Chris gave us a “Lite” version of what he’d normally queue up for one of his tours. Despite that, I’m hoping my adventure will still give you a good idea of what it’s like to see Costa Rica with the assistance of Elephant Moto. I’ve shared the story in several parts over the last few months, so here’s one place where you can catch it all. Hope you enjoy!
