Post Sale Update: This Husky sold for $5,700 after 38 bids on eBay.
In 1981, Husqvarna released a new motor for their Open class platform. Even though it was the smallest in a class of 500cc bikes at 430cc, the engine made up for it with a wide and predictable powerband. Thanks to a rest of about 35 years, this Husky 430WR has just 102 miles on the odometer.
The cases on the new motor were made of magnesium, and outside of them was a primary kickstart so that you could start the bike while in gear. For more on the 430 platform, check out this story on the ’81 430CR (the MX version) on PulpMX.
This bike (VIN: WN18589) has just 102 miles as it’s been in heated storage since 1983. It’s said to start and run perfectly and the clutch and transmission work, but lots of the rubber pieces and air filter will need to be addressed if you want this to be a runner. The original Barum Cross tires are still on and the tank looks good but there’s a small dent in the right side.
