Post Sale Update: This XR650L sold for $5,002 after 36 bids on eBay in Star, Idaho.

Introduced as a 1993 model, the XR650L was a revelation that was considered by many to be the best dual-sport ever. Impressively (or depressingly, depending on your outlook), the bike has just about stayed the same as it’s still offered new from Honda with the tagline of “Ride Anywhere“.

It’s still a capable explorer – Nathan did LA-Barstow-Vegas on one while filming our Ural adventure, for example. If you’re not short, this is a great street-legal option that can go nearly anywhere. For more on what is affectionately known as the Big Red Pig, check out this story on Cycle World where they call it a “Best Used Bike”.

This example (VIN: JH2RD06025M300083) has just 102 miles – as noted above, this bike has remained the same for years so it might just make sense to buy a new one but maybe you want to give this bike a new leas on life. Per the seller, “it was parked at 49 miles and not ridden from 2006-2023 due to health issues. It has a brand new OEM Honda carburetor and fuel shut-off valve, oil change using Honda 10w40 oil & filter, and a new Yuasa battery. It runs like new and has been garaged since new. It has never been ridden off road or laid down and is still 100% stock with all of the smog equipment intact. Included in the sale is the original tool kit, owners manual and two keys.
