Post-Listing Update: This X1 did not sell as bidding only got up to $2,025.
Presumably named after its year of release, the Buell X1 Millennium was a limited production run (800 bikes) that was all about silver aesthetics. 400 were sold in the US, 375 were sold in Europe, and I have no idea where the other 25 went.
An evolution of the S1, the X1 was Buell’s answer to criticism regarding the ugly air filter and exhaust, as well as the useless seat. As it was mechanically similar to the base X1 Lightning, this Millenium Edition had fuel injection controlling the 1203cc engine which produced 95 horsepower and 86 pound feet of torque. The engine was out of Harley’s Sportster but was improved with Buell’s Thunderstorm heads – remember that the Sportster produced less than 60 horsepower, so Buell was really able to get some motivation out of this powerplant. This was good for a top speed of 135 miles per hour, but still 40 miles per gallon.
This specific Buell X1 Millennium has 21,030 miles and comes with a D&D exhaust, K&N air filter, and the factory optional Buell Race ECM. Imperfections include a few chips in the paint and a broken tach.
