Post Sale Update: After 48 bids on eBay, this R90S sold for $19,799.
I know many of you think the R90S is overrated, but many others are always on the prowl for one (especially after Egan’s article) – and this is a nice example with less than 10,000 miles.
No matter what you think of it now, it was a game-changer when it was released to the world. With oversight from Hans Muth, this bike was built to show the world that BMW could make more than just touring bikes for old guys. Reg Pridmore helped soldify that claim with a first place finish in the first ever AMA Superbike Championship series in 1976. This bike (VIN: 4950456) has 9,848 miles and is being offered by the third owner.
The seller says the bike needs nothing to go, and that the only thing the bike has had replaced are the tires – still with the original style Continentals. The original tool kit and luggage are included and the paint is claimed to be original. Bonus points to the seller, who has done a great job documenting this bike with photos.
