New for 2014, the F3 800 was more than just an evolution of the F3 675 – Cycle World said, “the 800 simply feels like a completely different animal.” Some of this was due to refinements to the engine management software, but the bigger motor was less peaky and made more power (148 hp at the crank compared to 126).
The 800 also got a stronger slipper clutch, taller final drive gearing, upgraded Brembo brakes, and stronger Marzocchi forks. More importantly (at least for today’s post), MV also introduced an up-spec version — the F3 800 Ago — as a tribute to Giacomo Agostini. Just 300 examples were produced, and each one got treated to an upgraded traction control system, Bosch 9MP ABS, and lightweight forged aluminum wheels. MV Agusta also machined the levers, the counterweights, and footpegs from billet aluminum. Rounding out the package was an eye-catching Italian paint scheme, carbon fenders, and some commemorative badging. MSRP was a staggering $24,598 – this one has a reserve at less than half than half that number.
This example (VIN: ZCGMEGNU5FV005105) is #132 out of 300 and it’s offered by the third owner.
It has just 2,860 miles and it’s been upgraded with an Öhlins steering damper, R&G tank grips, and a few Rizoma bits. The sale includes two keys, the original owner’s documents and commemorative plaque, an Agostini book, a bike cover, a Pit Bull rear stand, a battery charger, as well as a selection of stock take-off parts.
