7-2-16 Update: A year later, this Twingle is back up for sale, but hopefully this time it will sel asit’s being offered with no reserve. Find it with an unmet opening bid of $600
Post Listing Update: This bike got one bid at $1,200 but that wasn’t enough to meet reserve.
This well-worn twingle (the smaller of Sears/Allstate/Puch’s offerings) has an incredible amount of patina but it’s claimed to run and drive very well thanks to a recent top end rebuild.
The “Twingle” name came from the unusual 2-stroke engine that features a twin piston configuration within a single cylinder. Made by Austrian motorcycle company Puch, these bikes were re-badged as an Allstate for sale by Sears. This example is claimed to run well and have a smooth gearbox. The top end rebuild included a new piston ring and gaskets, plus the carb and all electrics were overhauled. The mechanicals are good but there’s a lot of cosmetic surface rust and pitted chrome. The control cables will need to be replaced and the carb isn’t original.
