Over on the auction site we’ve got a well-preserved example of my favorite Ducati Monster of all time – the S4RS Tricolore!
In 2006, Ducati went a little crazy with their naked sport bike and stuffed it with a 998 superbike motor, radial-mounted Brembo brakes, and Ohlins suspension. It was the ultimate expression of the Monster – and at that time Monster sales were half of Ducati’s entire portfolio. In 2008, Ducati went a step further with the Tricolore. 400 examples were built, and 250 of those made it to the US. The S4RS continued the parts-bin nature of the Monster as the motor, Termi exhaust, Brembo P34 brakes and 10-spoke Marchesini wheels all came from Ducati’s flagship superbike at the time. But the “three color” limited edition added the special paint scheme, individualized number plate, and one-off clutch cover. Carbon fiber was also used for the silencer cover, exhaust heat guard, front mudguard, radiator covers, and more.
The seller of this example (VIN: ZDM1RB5T68B112704) is incredibly passionate about Monsters – I asked him to write a little introduction about how he started his collection and it ended up in something so nice that I felt obligated to create a separate “collection” page for him.
Upgrades include a full Ducati Performance Termignoni exhaust with Ducati Performance ECU, Ducati Performance slipper clutch, Ducati Performance carbon fiber clutch cover, Ducati Performance clutch slave cylinder, Gubellini steering damper, carbon fiber clutch and brake fluid reservoir covers, STM frame plugs, Rhinomoto axle sliders, Motonation frame sliders, Rhinomoto bar ends, and more.
Find this Monster Tricolore for sale in Santa Monica, California with bidding up to $10,100 and the reserve not yet met (but it’s pretty close!) here on Iconic Motorbike Auctions.
