Featuring a 23-inch front wheel, the Honda XR250R was an enduro that was best suited for leisurely speeds, not competition. In a 1979 Road Test, Cycle Guide said “Enduro bikes are not supposed to be meek, but the XR250 would sit up and lick your hand if it could.” This example stands out thanks to the low mileage.
Though it was more of a playbike than a MX’er, it did have some MX-inspired features: long-travel suspension, lay-down rear shocks, combination headlight/number plate, and smaller brakes compared to the street-focused XL250. The engine is a 249cc four-stroke, paired with a 5-speed transmission. Dry weight is 252.5 pounds.
This example is entirely original and it’s claimed to be in excellent shape though there are 2 significant scratches in the tank. According to the seller, the original owner rode this bike around in his yard and then put packing tape on the bike in storage (the adhesive of which has left some marks on the tank and side covers). The sale includes the original tool kit, light bulb kit, and spark plug.
