1913 Shaw Motorbike

Based out of Galesburg, Kansas, the Shaw Manufacturing Company produced engines to attach to bicycles to convert them to motorcycles, among other products.

Shaw Motorbike - Engine

The engine is a 2.5 horsepower unit which was capable of 90 miles per gallon while propelling the bike up to about 40 miles per hour. For more on the history of Shaw Manufacturing, check out this article from Gas Engine Magazine. This specific Shaw Motorbike has a period frame by BSA and has been ‘semi-restored’. The engine has been rebuilt and it has a modern carb on it. The originally wooden wheels have been updated to steel.
