Popular with the German Police and Army in its day, the BMW R4 was a mid-market bike, designed to fill the gap between the entry level R2 and the upmarket boxer-engined bikes. Here’s a restored example that’s claimed to be in excellent condition, though the odometer doesn’t work.
I believe this is a Series 5 R4, but even if it’s a series 4, it has the 398cc engine that produced 14 horsepower. While looking for some more specs on the bike, I noticed that this bike was sold (not sure when) by Classic Motorcycle out of Austria.
