Post Sale Update: This Indian sold for $99,494 after 50 bids on eBay in Shelbyville, Michigan.

1942 was the last year for the Indian 4, and this example “underwent a complete and total restoration sometime in the 80’s.”

Per the seller, the bike was restored while in the care of Otto Link of Coopersburg, Pennsylvania. Otto had several Indians, all of which were painted in the same livery – the 1939 World’s Fair show bike scheme. “The reason Otto painted all of his bikes the same was so when he went to get one out of the barn, they all looked the same from afar so his wife wouldn’t ever suspect him having more than one motorcycle.

This example had the motor rebuilt approximately 2,500 miles ago, and it seems that everything works. At the same time of the engine rebuild, the seller “personally rebuilt both front and rear wheel hubs, brakes and put new 18×4.50 tires on.”
