After the success of the legendary 101 Scout, Indian did not have much luck with the Standard Scout or Motoplane. They attempted to remedy the common complaints with the Sport Scout in 1934, which was still 15 pounds higher than the 101 but had some success in racing – it won the first Daytona 200, held in 1937. Here’s a last year of the Sport Scout that’s enjoyed an ‘expert restoration.’
As a last year example, this bike has the full suite of incremental changes, including full skirted fenders, a lower seat, and a plunger style rear suspension. This bike was restored by Butch Baer and has been given electronic ignition (original parts to go back to points included). The engine has Bonneville heads and race cams, and the seat is a custom tandem version that was built from a period BMW. Flaws are limited to a disconnected speedo gear in the rear wheel hub and a small paint chip on the back of the front fender.
In 2013, this bike won Best Scout at the 4th Annual Indian Day in Springfield, Massachusetts. Find this Indian Sport Scout for sale in Concord, New Hamsphire with bidding up to $16,200 and the reserve not yet met or a BIN of $24,000
