Based out of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Safticycle offered a small variety of bicycle/scooter hybrids like the Sportster, Mountaineer, and the Cruiser between 1942 and 1952.
It was marketed as a commuter vehicle with a top speed of about 35 miles per hour and fuel economy of 100 miles per gallon. For more on the Safticycle, check out the US Scooter Museum.
This example is currently in a museum setting – based on location I’d guess it’s at Sidecars and More, but no guarantees there. Also not guaranteed is the mechanical condition of this rig, which the seller does not describe in detail. He/she does say that the paint is original and the sale includes some spares and literature.
Find this Safticycle for sale here on Craigslist in Howland, Maine for $3,000.
