7-1-16 Update: Two things. First, it turns out this is actually a KH Fieldmaster. Second, it’s offered by Bike-urious reader Dan Dutra (hopefully you remember him from his beautiful Cyclone at the 2016 Quail), and he’s added a new correct Amal 276 carb. Find it with bidding up to $2,550
Post-Listing Update: This Ariel did not meet reserve with bidding up to $3,750.
In 1954, Ariel introduced the FH, better known as the Huntmaster. It shared the majority of it sengine with the 650cc A10 engine of BSA, but it was surrounded by an all-new frame with a swingarm and paired with a Burman transmission.
According to Ariel, the Huntmaster was capable of hitting 95 miles per hour, while managing up to 70 miles per gallon if you were cruising at 45 miles per hour. The FH enjoyed a lifespan of 15 years before it was killed off in 1959.
This example (VIN: SE1427) was acquired by the seller as a painted but disassembled project, which has a lot of pluses, and a couple of minuses. The paint looks good, the engine and transmission have been gone through, and it has a new wiring harness. Unfortunately, a few parts are incorrect (like the carb and the steering damper rod). As the seller puts it, this is an entry level Ariel that looks amazing, so you can either enjoy it as a rider or spend some money and make it 100%. Source the correct carb, stop light switch, and a new set of tires and then enjoy it while you fix the remaining issues.
