Post-Sale Update: After being relisted, this Ariel sold for $12,588 with 24 bids on eBay.
The Ariel Red Hunter was a long standing legend – but for just two years (’52 & ’53), they made an all-alloy engine variant called the VHA. Here’s a beautifully restored example of this hard to find bike.
In addition to the upgraded engine, the VHA also got a Wedgwood Blue paint job (which apparently celebrated the Queen’s coronation), white lining, chromium plating, and polished aluminum – though you could request the Deep Claret Red of the VH instead. If you’d like to peruse the ’52-’53 Ariel Owners Guide, check out this link from Mats Berglind. This example (VIN: SD4729) has been repainted in the original blue and restored by Tim Bardsley. Despite the rebuild, it has only been started and not ridden. Please change that!
