Post-Sale Update: This Rickman Metisse Mk III sold for $12,200 on eBay.
More classic British bike goodness, though this auction expires soon. The Rickman Metisse Mk III was an enormous success that provided many riders a base for either street-based roadsters or dual-sport scramblers. This is one of the latter, powered by a Triumph 500cc twin engine.
This specific Rickman Metisse Mk III (VIN: R4192) features original Rickman magnesium hubs, with Buchanan stainless steel spokes and Dunlop steel rims. Front forks are Ceriani units, and there are modern Works Performance shocks in the rear.
The engine was rebuilt by Bruce Holland Motorcycles, a well-known name in older Triumphs. The engine is from a ’53 Triumph, and the rebuild work was over $2,500, which included a NOS Amal carb, Megacycle cams and Lucas competition magneto. It comes with a BSA transmission, and plenty of new parts. Interestingly enough, there’s no lockable ignition – assuming the kill switch is off, the bike is always ready to kick over.
